Photography for me started as a preteen hobby, taking silly photos with friends on the many point and shoots I had (and inevitably broke). My dad gifted me my first DSLR for Christmas my freshman year of high school, in hopes that I would take better care of it. It was a Sony a300, and I instantly fell in love with hearing the sound of the shutter, running around photographing anything that caught my eye. Spending the bulk of my adolescence on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, I was surrounded by an endless amount of beauty. Most of my peers would refer to me as “that girl who likes to take weird but cool photos”. Despite the mild cringe that washes over me when I look back at said photos, I’ll always have a soft spot for the humble beginning of my creative journey.
When I relocated to Coastal California at the age of 19, I continued to keep my camera close. Whether it was my every day life, my travels, strangers, or the people that I loved, I still captured things that inspired me. I never thought I’d get the chance to pursue photography as any more than a hobby, let alone gain any monetary value from it. I just knew it made me happy, and that was good enough for me. Over time, as I struggled to find a consistent professional pathway, I began pursuing freelance photo work on the side, just to dip my toes in. Eventually, I realized that I was being given an opportunity that I knew I should embrace. So in 2019, I decided to make photography my main career focus.
I’ve learned over the years that capturing the right moment is all about trust, timing, and vulnerability. When it comes to technique, I believe spontaneity is just as important as preparation, so my clients get a bit of both when they work with me. I love utilizing natural light, vibrant colors, and highlighting unexpectedly beautiful moments in my work.
I am currently based in Southern California, available for travel and adventure worldwide.
